The next Holbeck Neighbourhood Plan Forum will take place on Saturday 7th September at 11.30 am at St. Matthew's Community Centre. We are looking forward to welcoming some new faces and bringing you news on developments from the plan so far.

Holbeck Gala Update

8/28/2013

Thanks to the joint effort of members from the Publicity and Content Group we managed to successfully promote the Holbeck Neighbourhood Plan at the Holbeck Gala in July. Graciela, Ellie and Lucy hosted a range of activities including badge making and banner painting, which attracted the younger members of the community. Tony Ray displayed black and white photographic images of how Holbeck once looked a century ago. Eve Tidswell managed to get over 20 signatures from interested residents looking forward to joining the plan and attending the next forum on September 7th.

Janet and Eve also managed to get some really positive thoughts and comments from people on how they saw shaping Holbeck for the future. There were many comments from a range of people of all ages and different nationalities; reflecting a sense of belonging towards the community. These comments will be typed up and put on display at the forum on the 7th September.

It was great to finally meet the children behind their creations who took part in the competition from Ingram Road Primary School. The standard and originality of the work was unique and the children really let their imaginations flow! All children received a prize for entering the competition.

Holbeck Community Projects Group

Join Holbeck Community Projects Group next Thursday 29th August at 5pm at Ingram Gardens Community Room. The group are a task group of the Neighbourhood Plan and are working on what we can do to make a difference in Holbeck NOW. Some of the bigger projects identified through the Neighbourhood Plan may take years to be completed so we wanted to focus on what we could do now to improve Holbeck life and bring the community together. We have put together an action plan and are working towards a community bonfire, a Christmas lights switch on and a pop up community space on Domestic Street.

We need your help and input to make these projects a success, pop down and join us if you can, there will be cups of tea and nibbles!

Watch out for an autumn Holbeck Walk About organised by the Community Projects Group. We will be asking you to take pictures of what we love and what we want to change about Holbeck, we will then need your help to turn these into a beautiful display where we can gather together all of our ideas. Let’s get creative!

Blog Volunteer Needed

8/24/2013

Holbeck Neighbourhood Plan needs you! We are looking for a Holbeck resident who can take on the job of updating our blog. We thought the a blog could promote all local activities and events, useful information and of course Holbeck Neighbourhood Plan updates and info. We’d like to be able to reach out to more people that live in Holbeck through this as we recognise that not everybody likes coming to a meeting but you might want to have your say through the blog instead.

The volunteer will be emailed information to put up from members of Holbeck Neighbourhood Plan and other Holbeck groups, they’d need to be able to check their email and access the Blog/Facebook/Twitter on a regular basis. We’d also want them to respond to comments and ideas received and from time to time ask questions to residents e.g. What do you think our ideas for the Matthew Murray Site? If you are interested we’d love to hear from you.
